Israel’s response to Iran’s missile strikes continues to be a subject of debate. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bekayi said that Tehran had given a note to the United Nations nuclear watchdog regarding Israel’s threats. The spokesman also assessed the response to any Israeli attack and conveyed the message that Turkish-Iranian relations are strong.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bekayi assessed his country’s foreign policy agenda and regional developments at a weekly press conference. Stating that the relations with Turkey are very privileged, the spokesperson stated that the two countries are making efforts to stop Israel’s attacks in Gaza and Lebanon. He reported that they delivered a protest note to the International Atomic Energy Agency regarding Israel’s threats to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities. Stating that they are continuing their consultations with all countries in the region regarding stopping Israel’s attacks in the region, Bekayi said the following: “Our message is very clear and we have said that Iran will definitely respond to any attack by the Zionist regime. We trust that neighboring countries will not allow the use of their lands in an attack against Iran.” The spokesperson also added that the targets to be hit in response to a possible attack by Israel have been determined.
“WE ARE WORKING FOR PEACE IN SYRIA”
Touching on the issues of regional cooperation with Turkey and the fight against terrorism in his statements, Bekayi said the following: “Strengthening border security and the fight against terrorism are two important topics in our relations with Turkey. We are in contact with our Turkish counterparts on Syria within the framework of Astana. We are working to establish peace and stability in Syria with the help of Turkey and our other partners. The US occupation of Syria and the lack of stability are strengthening terrorist organizations.”
The Iranian spokesman stated that they agree with Turkey on restoring stability and security in Syria to combat terrorism on the common border and in the region.
Bekayi continued his speech as follows: “The recent visit of the Foreign Minister (Abbas Erakçi) to Turkey was also a good opportunity to meet with Turkish officials, and our meetings with Hamas officials showed that Hamas is alive. The two countries, Iran and Turkey, are resolutely trying to stop the aggression against Gaza and Lebanon.”
