A handwritten copy of The Little Prince is up for sale for $1.25 million.
The copy, said to be one of three texts kept by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, author of The Little Prince, in the 1940s, will be put up for sale at the Abu Dhabi Arts Festival in the United Arab Emirates in November.
Saint-Exupery wrote The Little Prince in the original French for children while living in exile in New York during World War II. The book was published in 1943. The Little Prince has sold millions of copies worldwide since its publication.
Experts said that The Little Prince is a part of the global literary heritage as one of the most translated books in the world, and added that “the possibility of a museum or library outside of Europe purchasing the typescript in November could mean recognition of the book’s global status.”
