Japan sends military communications satellite Kirameki 3 into orbit

The “Kirameki 3” military communications satellite belonging to the Japanese Ministry of Defense was successfully launched into orbit with an H3 rocket.

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has successfully sent the “Kirameki 3” (DSN 3) military communications satellite belonging to the Japanese Ministry of Defense into orbit.

In a statement made by JAXA, it was announced that the H3 rocket carrying the satellite was launched from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture at 15:48 local time.

It was noted that the satellite, which uses the “X-band” frequency band that is less affected by weather conditions and will enable rapid and large amounts of data exchange between military units, settled into orbit approximately 29 minutes after takeoff, as planned.

The launch, which was originally planned for mid-October, was postponed due to adverse weather conditions and technical problems.
