Boat with 27 people sinks in South Korea: 2 dead, 12 missing

A fishing boat with 27 people on board sank off the coast of Jeju Island in South Korea. Two of the 15 people rescued lost their lives, while the search for the 12 missing people is reportedly continuing. It was reported that two people, one of whom was a cook, were on the boat at the time of the accident, and most of the crew were working on the deck without life jackets. A detailed investigation has been launched into the incident.

The accident occurred off the coast of Jeju Island in South Korea.
The Jeju Coast Guard reported that the 129-ton fishing boat Geumseong, carrying 27 crew members, 16 of whom were South Koreans and 11 foreigners, sank at around 04:30 local time.
A large number of search and rescue teams were dispatched to the region following the crew’s call for help, and a total of 15 people, including two who were unconscious, were rescued and taken to hospital.
It was announced that two people in serious condition died in the hospital, and the search for 12 missing crew members, 10 of whom are South Korean and two foreigners, continues.
According to the statements of the crew who were rescued alive, it was stated that the boat named Geumseong suddenly capsized and sank for an unknown reason while the fish caught were being transferred to another boat.
