Two senior Islamic Jihad leaders were killed in the Israeli attack on the Syrian capital Damascus the other day.
Islamic Jihad released a written statement regarding the Israeli attack on Damascus on November 14. The statement read, “In an attack carried out by Israel on Thursday on civilian offices and residences of the Islamic Jihad in Damascus, two of the movement’s senior leaders, Abdulaziz Saeed al-Minavi, born in 1945, and Rasmi Yusuf Abu Issa, born in 1972, were martyred along with a group of members of the Islamic Jihad.” It was reported that the bodies were pulled from under the rubble in the morning hours and that search and rescue efforts were still ongoing. On November 14, the Syrian news agency SANA used the news with the statement, “Israel carried out air strikes on two buildings, and according to initial reports, several civilians were killed and injured.” The Israeli army claimed responsibility for the attack in a written statement, claiming that the Islamic Jihad Movement’s “command center and some infrastructure facilities” in Damascus were targeted.
