“War preparedness” booklets have begun to be distributed to the public in Sweden. It is stated that the booklet titled “In Case of War” has been renewed due to the Ukraine war and the increasing tension in the region. First, it is stated that the booklet distributed during the Second World War was updated 6 years ago and that its length was doubled in the latest edition due to the risk of war.
It is also noteworthy that the phrase “We will never surrender if we are attacked” has been brought to the beginning in the booklet, which also provides tips on preparation for extreme climate events due to global warming.
In neighboring Finland, a booklet titled “Preparing for Disasters and Crises” has been published online. In the event of war, extreme weather events and similar disasters, the public is called upon to “take care of themselves for at least a week.”
Denmark’s emergency services ministry also provides information to its citizens over the age of 18 in the event of war. He sent an e-mail listing the water, food and medicine he needed to survive in case of an emergency.
In Norway, “disaster preparedness” brochures were distributed to all 2.2 million households in the country. It is stated that the most suitable foods to stock up on for long-term survival in case of war are canned beans and pasta, while it is recommended to have iodine tablets and a spare energy source on hand against the danger of radiation.
A digital brochure published in Finland explains in detail how the government and army will respond in case of war, emphasizing that the country is ready to respond to all kinds of threats. It is emphasized that war anxiety is increasing following recent developments in NATO’s newest members Sweden and Finland, as well as other Scandinavian countries.
