It was announced that all classes in the city except for 10th and 12th grades will be held online, and trucks carrying materials that are not urgently needed were banned from entering the city.
The city has banned the use of some older, diesel-fueled vehicles, and authorities have called on children, the elderly and those with chronic or respiratory illnesses to avoid going out.
Life-threatening foggy weather has covered the surroundings of high-rise buildings in the capital, and warnings have been issued that flights may be disrupted due to reduced visibility.
It was reported that the air quality in various parts of the city exceeded the limit recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) by 50 times. According to estimates, air pollution will continue at high levels throughout the week.
The air quality index values, which show the level of air pollution, are classified as “good” in the range of 0-50, “moderate” in the range of 51-100, “sensitive” in the range of 101-150, “unhealthy” in the range of 151-200, “bad” in the range of 201-300 and “hazardous” in the range of 301-500.
