Two legendary Bee Gees drummers died four days apart

Dennis Bryon and Colin Petersen, two drummers of the legendary music band Bee Gees, which has sold 220 million albums and singles worldwide, died four days apart.

Two musicians who played drums for the Bee Gees, founded by British-Australian brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb in 1958, have died within four days of each other.

It was announced that Bryon, who left his mark on the group’s disco era, died on November 14 at the age of 76, but the cause of death was not shared.

On November 18, the group’s first professional drummer, Colin Petersen, died at the age of 78 after falling from a height.

Petersen had transitioned from child actor to music and joined the Bee Gees in 1967. Petersen, who appeared on the group’s first four ballad-heavy albums, was a part of the group until 1970. In an interview in 2022, he emphasized that Bee Gees songs were created as a team effort in the studio, saying, “You could feel the coordination that came from all of us working together in our tracks.”
Bryon, on the other hand, contributed to the Bee Gees’ disco era of the 1970s and played on hits such as “Stayin’ Alive”, “How Deep Is Your Love”, and “You Should Be Dancing”. Bryon was in the band from 1973 to 1981. Both drummers have performed in Bee Gees tribute bands in recent years, Petersen with “The Best of The Bee Gees Show” and Bryon with the Italian Bee Gees, keeping the legendary tunes alive.
Maurice died in 2003 and Robin in 2012, respectively, with Barry Gibb continuing the Bee Gees’ musical legacy as the last surviving member. Since their formation in 1958, the Bee Gees have become an icon in the music world with their ballads and disco songs, selling 220 million albums and singles worldwide.
