Ali Hassan Khalil, assistant to Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, made a statement about the ongoing ceasefire negotiations. In his statement, Khalil said that Lebanon and Hezbollah had accepted the US offer of a ceasefire with Israel. The effort towards a ceasefire has been described as the most serious effort made to date to end the fighting. US President Biden’s advisor Amos Hochstein said there was a “real opportunity” to end the conflict. Hezbollah leader Naim Qasem is expected to make a statement later in the day.
Israel’s attacks on Lebanon continue.
US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller stated that progress was being made in the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, which will ensure the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
A statement regarding the ceasefire agreement came from Lebanon.
“THE MOST SERIOUS EFFORT TO DATE”

Khalil said that Lebanon and Hezbollah accepted the US’s ceasefire proposal with Israel.
BIDEN’S ADVISOR IN BEIRUT GONE
Khalil reported that Lebanon gave a written response to the ceasefire proposal to the US Ambassador to Lebanon, adding that US President Joe Biden’s senior advisor and Special Representative for Lebanon Amos Hochstein traveled to Beirut regarding the agreement.
Khalil stated that the success of the initiative depends on the Israeli side, saying, “If Israel does not want a solution, it could create a lot of problems.”
Khalil noted that Israel was trying to negotiate “under fire,” and said, “This will not affect our stance.”
“A REAL OPPORTUNITY”
Biden’s advisor Amos Hochstein said he held “very constructive talks” with the Lebanese Parliament Speaker in Beirut and that there was a “real opportunity” to end the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel. Speaking after the meeting, Hochstein said, “This is a decisive moment. “I am in Beirut to facilitate this decision, but ultimately it is up to the parties to resolve this conflict. That is now in our hands,” he said.
Hezbollah leader Naim Qassim is expected to make a statement later in the day.
