Access to the online game platform Roblox, which is popular among children, was banned. According to the information published on the website of the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK), the ban came into force with the decision of the Adana 6th Criminal Court of Peace dated August 7, 2024. Roblox, one of the world’s largest game platforms, has been inaccessible in Turkey since last August. The 6th Criminal Court of Peace in Adana announced that access to Roblox was blocked in accordance with the law on regulating publications on the internet and preventing crimes. Here is the latest status on the Roblox access block… ROBLOX HAD OBJECTED Roblox announced in a statement that it had objected to the access block decision of the Adana 6th Criminal Court of Peace and that they were cooperating with local authorities. Roblox’s statement reads as follows: “On September 2, 2024, we filed an appeal against the Adana 6th Criminal Court of Peace’s final decision. We respect the court process and cannot comment on the details of the case due to ongoing legal proceedings. Roblox respects local laws and regulations in Turkey and is cooperating with local authorities to restore our users’ access to the platform and prioritize the safety of Roblox users. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu had the following to say about the Roblox access ban; “There was a contact with us regarding the Roblox game. We used our authority as BTK. The process progressed a little differently here. My friends called me and informed me of a decision that had been made. With this decision, I learned about the game called Roblox. I read the decisions, watched the visuals. I was worried about our children. We implemented the ban within 4 hours. The parents told us, ‘God bless you, we couldn’t block it.'” WILL ROBLOX BE OPENED? An official statement has not yet been made regarding the opening of Roblox in Turkey.
