The funeral of former One Direction band member Liam Payne, who died after falling from the balcony of the hotel room he was staying in in Argentina last month, will be held today. The famous singer’s family and friends will attend the funeral.

During the investigation after the incident, drugs and damaged items were found in the singer’s hotel room.
The autopsy revealed alcohol, drugs and anti-depressant medication in Payne’s system. Payne’s funeral will be held today. Family and friends will attend the ceremony.
According to Brazilian authorities, a person with Payne has been charged with abandonment causing death and drug supply.
A hotel employee and another person have also been charged with drug supply. The names of those charged have not been released so far.
According to CNN, hotel staff had requested emergency police assistance shortly before Payne fell, saying, “We have a guest who is under the influence of drugs and alcohol. He is making a mess of everything.” The call was made about 10 minutes before Payne’s death. Buenos Aires police later found Payne’s hotel room “completely messed up.” Drugs, energy supplements and other over-the-counter medications were found scattered around the room, and various items in the room were broken.
An interview the 31-year-old star gave in 2021 has become a hot topic again. Speaking about her alcohol addiction, the singer said, “There are definitely some things I never, ever talk about. It was really, really, really serious. And it was a problem.” Speaking about his struggles with substance abuse, the singer said in a video shared on YouTube in the summer of 2023 that he had not consumed any alcohol for six months, adding, “It’s nice to be in this position. I definitely don’t need this stuff anymore. The party’s over.”
Payne participated in the singing competition “The X Factor” in 2008 and 2010, and in 2010 he teamed up with fellow contestants Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan to form the band One Direction. With over 70 million albums sold, One Direction became the best-selling boy band of all time, but after Malik left, the band members began to work on solo projects in 2017. Payne, who won over 200 awards with the band, has worked with names such as Ed Sheeran, Rita Ora, French Montana and J Balvin on his singles and albums since then.
