The children of Gisele Pelicot, the victim of the gang rape case that shook France, described the devastation they experienced in the courtroom. The 72-year-old woman’s eldest son, David Pelicot, testified against his father, Dominique Pelicot, in the defendant’s chair.
The defendant’s children were asked questions in court about whether the father had abused other family members. Pelicot, 50, is concerned that her son, who is receiving psychological treatment, was also abused by his father.
Dominique Pelicot is being tried in a trial that began in September for allegedly raping her husband by different men over a period of 10 years after she gave him heavy drugs.
A 71-year-old man who kept hundreds of rape videos in a file titled “abuse” on his computer admitted to the charges in court, saying “I am a rapist.” The suspect also admitted that he sometimes made his wife wear different clothes after giving her drugs. Along with her, 51 other people, aged between 26 and 74, are facing rape charges.
While some of the defendants have admitted to the rape, others claim they were unaware that Gisèle Pelicot was drugged, despite video evidence showing her unconscious and snoring loudly.
Dominique has repeatedly denied allegations that she drugged or abused her daughter or her older son David’s child.
Even when the father in the defendant’s seat asked for forgiveness from his son during the hearing, David said, “Never,” closing the door on that.
In France, a man named Dominique Pelicot is accused of inviting foreign men to his home for 10 years and organizing a sexual assault on his wife, who he drugged.
French police revealed that 71-year-old Dominique Pelicot invited at least 50 different men to his home between 2011 and 2020 and sexually assaulted his unconscious wife.
More than 3,800 photos and videos of the sexual assault were found on Pelicot’s computer.
The trial is expected to continue until December, with 50 of the 72 people identified from photos and videos found by police expected to receive sentences of up to 20 years in prison.
