Trump emphasized that Bondi would provide strong leadership following Gaetz’s withdrawal. Gaetz came to the fore with his controversial statements about same-sex marriage while he was serving as attorney general. Bondi was also part of the legal team that brought forward allegations that Trump lost the 2020 election because of vote theft.

Trump announced that he will bring former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi to the Department of Justice.
After the deaths of 47 people in the Orlando gay nightclub shooting, Bondi spoke out against same-sex marriage.
She even argued with CNN anchor Anderson Cooper about the issue.
But Bondi also supported raising the gun age to 21 after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that killed 17 people.
The Florida lawyer supported the former US president during his first impeachment trial and his hush money trial in New York.
Joining Trump’s White House team in 2019, Bondi served as both a legal advisor and defense attorney for the former US president.
Bondi was also part of the legal team that brought forward allegations that Trump lost the 2020 election because of vote theft.
Despite public pressure, Trump reportedly opposed the release of the report, and the refusal to release the report due to opposition from Republicans in Congress caused backlash.
