Trump’s Attorney General Nominee: Gaetz, Accused of Harassment, Left, Bondi In

In the US, new President Donald Trump has nominated former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, who has supported him for years, as his attorney general nominee to replace Matt Gaetz, who withdrew his candidacy due to sexual harassment allegations. Trump emphasized that Bondi would provide strong leadership following Gaetz’s withdrawal. Gaetz came to the fore with his controversial statements about same-sex marriage while he was serving as attorney general. Bondi was also part of the legal team that brought forward allegations that Trump lost the 2020 election because of vote theft.

Florida Representative Matt Gaetz, who was nominated by US President-elect Donald Trump to be Attorney General, announced that he was withdrawing his candidacy.
Trump’s new pick for the Justice Department has been announced.
Trump announced that he will bring former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi to the Department of Justice.
Expressing that Bondi was tough as Florida’s first female attorney general, Trump said, “Pam was a prosecutor for nearly 20 years and made the streets safe for families in Florida. “As Florida’s first female attorney general, she worked to stop drug trafficking and reduce the tragedy of Fentanyl Overdose Deaths across the country,” he said.
Pam Bondi’s career as attorney general has been marked by interesting debates.

After the deaths of 47 people in the Orlando gay nightclub shooting, Bondi spoke out against same-sex marriage.

She even argued with CNN anchor Anderson Cooper about the issue.
But Bondi also supported raising the gun age to 21 after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that killed 17 people.

Once Bondi is officially nominated, she will be subject to Senate confirmation. But the president-elect’s supporters are quite pleased with this choice.
Bondi is one of Trump’s longtime allies.
The Florida lawyer supported the former US president during his first impeachment trial and his hush money trial in New York.
Joining Trump’s White House team in 2019, Bondi served as both a legal advisor and defense attorney for the former US president.
Bondi was also part of the legal team that brought forward allegations that Trump lost the 2020 election because of vote theft.
Trump’s first candidate, Gaetz, faced accusations including “paying two women for sex,” “having sex with an underage girl,” and “using drugs.” Gaetz was investigated for the allegations, and a report was prepared as a result of this investigation.

Despite public pressure, Trump reportedly opposed the release of the report, and the refusal to release the report due to opposition from Republicans in Congress caused backlash.
