A second young Australian woman who became seriously ill after drinking tainted alcohol in Laos has died, according to Australian media. Holly Bowles, 19, had been in critical condition in a Bangkok hospital for days after being poisoned in Laos more than a week ago. The Bowles family released a short statement saying, “We are deeply saddened to say that our beautiful daughter Holly is now at peace.” Her friend Bianca Jones, also 19, died earlier this week. A British woman, an American man and two Danish tourists also died after falling ill in a Laos town popular with backpackers.
