Following the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant, posters reading “Wanted” for Netanyahu appeared on walls in the streets of England. British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said, “If Netanyahu visits the UK, due process will be followed.”
The reverberations of the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) decision regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continue. The ICC in The Hague issued a decision on Thursday accepting the court’s chief prosecutor Karim Khan’s request to issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on suspicion of crimes against humanity. This is the first time an international arrest warrant has been issued for Israeli officials.
Many countries have announced that they will implement arrest warrants in the event of Netanyahu’s visit.
UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy also answered a question on the subject at the G7 Foreign Ministers meeting held in Italy today.
Lammy said, “If such a visit to the UK was in question, there would be a court process and the necessary process would be followed regarding these issues.”
PROTEST WITH POSTERS
On the other hand, reactions have begun to rise in the UK following the ICC’s decision.
Posters of Netanyahu bearing the phrase “Wanted” were hung on walls in the streets of England.
