The world has exceeded its limits, sexism has not left it alone: ”I will not spend much time with the little men”

Jeff Bezos’s space company Blue Origin had to remove a video shared by female astronaut Emily Calandrelli about her space journey from social media due to sexist and misogynist comments. Calandrelli, who was the target of sexist comments, said, “I will not stop sharing my joy.” he said.

A video shared by Jeff Bezos’ space company Blue Origin after her space trip has been the target of sexist comments.
Science communicator and engineer Emily Calandrelli, known as “Space Girl,” became the 100th woman to go into space with Blue Origin’s New Shepard spacecraft.
The video taken during the trip, in which Calandrelli shares the moments she sees Earth from space, attracted great attention on social media.
However, the comments were soon filled with sexualizing and derogatory statements.
One user said, “Being a woman is not an achievement,” while another asked, “Do you think you are the most attractive woman to go into space?” He made comments like this.
Calandrelli shared his feelings when he went into space in the video with the following words:
“We reached weightlessness, I turned upside down and looked at the planet. This is our planet! I had the same feeling I had when my children were born.” Calandrelli, who faced thousands of hateful comments, expressed his reaction by saying, “I’m not going to spend much time on the little guys on the internet. This experience is mine and I love it.”
Support messages poured in for Calandrelli on social media. “Your joy in space has inspired all women,” one user wrote, while many women noted that they watched the moment with their daughters.
Since Valentina Tereshkova became the first woman in space in 1963, the number of female astronauts remains limited. According to NASA data, only 61 of the 360 astronaut candidates selected to date are women.
Calandrelli emphasized that increasing the number of women in space will inspire young girls: “Women who go to space can tell this experience in a way that mothers and women can understand. This is important for future generations.” Although Blue Origin removed the video due to the backlash, Calandrelli continued to emphasize the value of this historic moment by resharing it on her own account:

“I appreciate every moment I feel in my soul. I will not stop sharing my joy.”
