NASA shared: Natural aquarium view in Muğla!

Kadın Azmağı, located in the Akyaka Neighborhood of Muğla’s Ula district, draws attention with its natural beauty. NASA shared the following message on social media on April 22, 2021, specially for Earth Day: “Wow. He shared the fascinating natural aquarium view of the region with his followers with the note “Experience its beauty.”

The Kadın Estuary in Muğla’s Akyaka Neighborhood attracted worldwide attention with the image shared by NASA on Earth Day 2021. This unique region, which fascinates with its natural aquarium appearance, offers a visual feast to its visitors with its underwater vegetation and clear waters.
Kadın Azmağı has become one of the most visited spots in the region. This 1,200-meter-long river looks like a natural aquarium with its underwater vegetation and clear water.
In addition to being famous for its water flowing into the Gulf of Gökova, the river also draws attention with its tributaries and tunnels formed by reeds. The aquatic plants in this area can grow up to 4-5 meters tall.
Mehmet Aras, who runs a restaurant in the region, said the following about the work done for the protection of Kadın Azmağı: “We know the importance of this place in the world. It also caught the attention of NASA. We are doing our best to protect the azm.”
The beauties of the creek came to the fore not only with NASA’s sharing, but also with the contributions of national athlete Şahika Ercümen, who free-dives in order to raise environmental awareness.
Ercümen, who dived in Kadın Azmağı 5 years ago in order to draw attention to environmental pollution, emphasized that this unique natural area should be protected.
