According to Reuters, Syrian President Bashar Assad boarded a plane from Damascus International Airport and headed to an unknown destination. Recent reports suggest that Bashar al-Assad has fled to Russia, but this has not been confirmed and there has been no statement from the Syrian government.
Allegedly having left the country, Assad has nowhere to be found.
Finally, it was claimed on online flight tracking sites that a plane that was last seen west of Homs after taking off from the airport in Damascus but then disappeared was carrying Bashar Assad.
It was claimed that the plane in question descended to an altitude of 1,600 feet and made “unusual movements” before disappearing from the radar.
