Church stampede in Nigeria: 10 dead

It was reported that 10 people lost their lives in a stampede that broke out at a church in the West African country of Nigeria.

According to local press, a stampede broke out at a church in the Nigerian capital of Abuja while distributing food products as part of Christmas celebrations. According to initial reports, 10 people lost their lives and 8 were injured in the incident. Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Police Spokesperson Josephine Adeh stated in a written statement that an investigation has been launched into the incident. On December 18, 40 children lost their lives in a stampede at a Christmas fair in Oyo State.
