A passenger plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan.
Making a statement about the crash of the plane, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that the plane was heavily damaged by ground fire while in Russian airspace and became uncontrollable. Aliyev, who had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday, said that Russia should pay compensation to Azerbaijan for the downing of the passenger plane.
