Scientists warn: Potential explosion expected in 2025!

The Axial Seamount volcano in the northwestern United States is expected to erupt in 2025, amid increased seismic activity and seafloor swelling. Scientists said that although the eruption does not pose a major threat to the West Coast, it will provide important data on undersea volcanism.

Scientists warned that an underwater volcano called Axial Seamount in the northwestern United States could erupt around 2025.
Experts made this prediction after seismic activity and seafloor swelling increased recently around the volcano.
Rising up to 1,100 meters 300 miles off the Oregon coast, Axial is known as one of the most active underwater volcanoes in the Northeast Pacific.
Scientists announced that they detected a similar swelling before the 2015 eruption and that the same symptoms were seen again.

“Our current eruption estimate is between July 2024 and the end of 2025,” it was said in a statement made on December 10, 2023.

Seismic activity around the volcano is increasing with hundreds of small earthquakes every day, which is considered an indicator of magma accumulation and pressure.

In addition, the volcano’s surface has swollen to levels before the 2015 eruption. Geophysicist William Chadwick from Oregon State University stated that this swelling is a strong warning sign of an eruption.
Axial Seamount is known to erupt regularly, but it does not pose a direct threat or is not powerful enough to cause major earthquakes.

However, increasing swelling and seismic activity since the fall of 2023 have led experts to be more cautious.

Researchers suggest that an eruption could occur by the end of 2024. Chadwick emphasized that such eruptions can be predicted a few hours in advance and that thanks to new technologies, they have the opportunity to study the volcano’s eruption mechanisms in more depth.
