Google Maps prank causes chaos: They added fake location to map, causing road closures

A prank played by a group of friends using Google Maps has caused major chaos. Those who wanted to reach the “ghost” market added to maps in the Welsh countryside followed Google’s directions to an empty field on a remote farm. As a result of the complaints, Google announced that the situation was corrected.

Google Maps, one of the most popular navigation applications in the world, caused great chaos for some shoppers as a result of an interesting prank in the rural Wales.
In the village of Cyffylliog, a group of The supermarket added to maps misdirected customers who wanted to do their grocery shopping to an empty field on a remote farm.
Customers who followed Google’s directions tried to reach the fake store, which was tens of kilometers away from the nearest supermarket.
This misdirected delivery trucks and forced them to drive on narrow roads caused them to get stuck. Local residents shared the situation on social media and made complaints.
Following the chaos, Google updated the location and announced that the fake store was no longer on maps.
