Forest fire in Japan

A fire broke out in a forest area in the city of Etajima in Hiroshima, Japan. While 150 people staying in a nursing home near the area were evacuated for safety reasons, efforts to combat the flames continue.

While the world is talking about the ongoing forest fires in the US state of California, this time there was a fire panic in Japan.

According to information obtained from local authorities, a fire broke out in a forested area in the city of Etajima in Hiroshima Prefecture at around 09:40 local time.

It was reported that the area was within the boundaries of a firing range belonging to the Japan Self-Defense Forces (SDF), and that explosives training was taking place at the time of the fire.

The fire, which broke out in an area close to residential areas, caused concern. It was stated that 150 people staying at a nursing home near the area were evacuated for safety reasons, and that according to initial reports, no deaths or injuries were reported. It was reported that numerous fire crews continued to fight the flames.

The police announced that an investigation has been launched to determine whether the fire was related to military training in the area and to determine its exact cause.
