Turkey’s rising naval power and Blue Homeland policy continue to worry Greece. In the face of domestic and national breakthroughs, Greece is talking about the growing power of the Turkish navy. The developments reported in the Greek press under the headline “Turkish Naval Forces are growing, threatening our sovereignty in the Aegean” are drawing attention. The Greek media states that Turkey is on the path to establishing dominance in the seas with its powerful navy.
The Greek press continues to talk about new breakthroughs in the Turkish Naval Forces following the Blue Homeland 2025 exercise. The Greek newspaper Pentapostagma carried Turkey’s dominance at seas to its headline with the headline, “The Turkish Naval Forces are growing, threatening our sovereignty in the Aegean.” The news emphasized that Turkey was forming a powerful navy to expand its dominance in the Aegean and the Mediterranean. Quoting from the news by Denmark-based International Media, Pentapostagma reported that 209 new ships were built for the Turkish Naval Forces.
“THE TURKISH NAVY HAS GAINED POWER”
The newspaper’s news report, which stated that the Turkish Navy had gained strength with these new ships, included the phrases, “The latest product of an effort that will gain more influence in the Mediterranean, the Aegean, the Black Sea and even beyond.” The newspaper underlined that the Blue Homeland Doctrine, developed by Turkish naval officers in 2006 and later adopted by the government, was behind the domestic breakthroughs in the Turkish Naval Forces. The news also included the words of Haluk Görgün, the Presidential Defense Industries Director. Görgün’s post regarding the launching of Turkish ships was also conveyed. Görgün’s words, “These will represent our nation’s power and determination in the world’s seas. Turkey is taking firm steps towards becoming a strong country at sea with its deterrence in the field and having a say at the table,” were widely covered, especially in the Greek press.
