Many of US President-elect Donald Trump’s preferred cabinet and administration names have been targeted with bomb threats and fake emergency calls.
Trump’s White House Karoline Leavitt, whom he chose as his spokesperson, announced that many of the names nominated by Trump yesterday and today received threats and that the security forces responded quickly and took precautions.
Leavitt did not provide information about the other names that were targeted by the threats, but said, “We take President Trump as an example. Dangerous actions and violence aimed at intimidating us cannot divert us from our path.” he said.
Elise Stefanik, who Trump nominated as the US Ambassador to the United Nations (UN), announced today that a bomb threat was made at the house where she lives with her family. Stefanik said, “New York State, County and Capitol Police immediately intervened and demonstrated professionalism of the highest level.” he said.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced that bomb threats and false emergency calls were made against Trump’s nominees for the new administration and that it was cooperating with other security agencies on the issue. An FBI spokesperson said, “We take all potential threats seriously and, as always, encourage members of the public to report anything they think is suspicious.” he said.
There has been no statement from Trump regarding the bomb threats yet. Trump survived two assassination attempts during the 2024 presidential election process.
Trump was injured in an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania last July.
The Republican politician was on a golf course in Florida in September when members of the Secret Service caught a suspect hiding in the area armed with a rifle.
