Meta plans to turn to nuclear energy to power its data centers. It was noted that the company aims to integrate nuclear reactors into its operations by 2030. Meta had previously planned to build a nuclear-powered data center, but plans were shelved due to the rare species of bees in the area.
Axios reported that Meta could soon join Google and Amazon in addressing global carbon emissions by switching to nuclear power.

POWERFUL TO POWER MILLIONS OF HOMES
These reactors can generate between one and four gigawatts of power, enough to power millions of homes.
For context, a typical U.S. nuclear reactor plant can generate 1 gigawatt of power can produce.
RARE SPECIES OF BEE HINDER
Earlier this year, it was reported that Meta had planned to build a nuclear-powered data center, but shelved the plan after a rare species of bee was spotted near the proposed site.
Facebook’s parent company Meta is considering switching to nuclear energy because it believes nuclear energy will play a crucial role in the transition to a cleaner, more reliable and diversified electricity grid.
Meta said it will accept applications from interested suppliers until January 3, 2025.
