Chinese drone maker DJI sues Pentagon

It was reported that Chinese drone manufacturer DJI filed a lawsuit against the US Department of Defense (Pentagon), which added the company to the sanctions list on the grounds that it has ties to the Chinese army.

In a statement made by the company, it was stated that in the lawsuit, DJI was objecting to the incorrect classification of DJI as a “Chinese military company” and requested its removal from the sanctions list. It was emphasized in the statement that the classification in question was incorrect and caused great financial damage to the company, and that DJI could not get a result from 16 months of negotiations with the Pentagon and was forced to apply to the Federal Court. “DJI is not owned or controlled by the Chinese military. The US Department of Defense itself acknowledges that DJI makes commercial drones for consumers, not military drones. DJI is committed to the development of civilian drone products and opposes the use of its products for military purposes,” the statement said. The US Department of Defense announced in 2022 that it had added the Chinese company to the “Chinese Military Enterprises” list under the National Defense Authorization Act.
