Chinese hackers target Trump’s phone

Chinese hackers have once again targeted Republican candidate Donald Trump in the US elections. US national security agencies, including the FBI, are working to detect the data breach and determine whether the hackers accessed messages and other unencrypted communications.

According to a new report, presidential candidate Donald Trump and vice presidential candidate JD Vance may be among those targeted by Chinese hackers who gained access to US communications networks. Investigators from national security agencies, including the FBI, are working to determine the extent of the data breach and whether hackers were able to access communications, including text messages sent over unencrypted channels. Sources familiar with the matter told the New York Times that the Trump campaign was notified this week that the former president and his running mate were among those whose phone numbers were targeted.

WHO CONVERTED WHAT WILL BE REVEALED The data the hackers may have accessed includes who the targeted individuals called, who they texted, how often they communicated with which people, and how long they spoke with those people. Such information could be valuable to countries such as China. Even without the content of the messages, the data could be used to identify those close to Trump and Vance. But it is not clear whether the alleged hackers explicitly tried to access the data on the devices. Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung would not confirm to The Independent whether the phones of the former president and his running mate had been compromised.
