Deadliest plane crash in South Korea in 30 years: First reactions from around the world

A passenger plane carrying 175 passengers and 6 flight attendants in South Korea skidded off the runway at Muan Airport and crashed into a wall. As a result of the crash, everyone on board except for the two crew members lost their lives. The youngest passenger on the plane was a 3-year-old child and the oldest passenger was a 78-year-old man. The government in South Korea has declared a week of national mourning until January 4. 179 people on board the plane, carrying 175 passengers and 6 flight attendants, lost their lives.
Miraculously, 2 people managed to survive the accident in which everyone on the plane was assumed to have died.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a condolence message for those who lost their lives in the plane crash in South Korea.

The written statement from the ministry noted that it was deeply saddened by the plane crash that took place at Muan Airport in South Korea.

The statement said, “We offer our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic accident and to the people of the Republic of Korea, and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.” The expression was used.

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen expressed her sorrow for the accident in a post she shared on her X account. Von der Leyen, who stated the EU’s support for South Korea, said, “I offer my deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and to all the people of South Korea.”
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the deadly plane crash in South Korea. Scholz said, “We have received news of a terrible plane crash in South Korea in which many people lost their lives. We offer our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the crash and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.” made a statement.
American aviation giant Boeing offered its condolences following the fatal crash of a passenger plane in South Korea. The company said it was in contact with South Korea’s Jeju Air.
Jeju Air reported that the plane involved in the accident was a Boeing 737-800 passenger jet.
Chinese President Xi Jinping also offered his condolences to South Korea. The Chinese President, who sent a condolence message to South Korean Interim President Choi Sang-mok, said, “On behalf of the Chinese government and people, I send my deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.” he said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also said, “We have received the tragic news of the accident at Muan International Airport which resulted in the loss of many lives. Every life lost is an immeasurable tragedy. On behalf of the Ukrainian people and myself, I offer my deepest condolences to the grieving families, the Korean people and the Interim President of South Korea Choi Sang-mok. “We share your pain and stand with the Korean people in this day of grief.”
British Foreign Secretary David Lammy also included the following in his message: “I learned with deep sadness the news of the plane crash in South Korea last night. I offer my deepest condolences to the people of South Korea and Thailand, and to all those who have lost loved ones.”
