Digital soldier is ready for duty! Location, health status and stress level will be learned with CENGAVER

HAVELSAN is preparing to offer the “digital soldier” CENGAVER, which it has created from various wearable subsystems, to the use of security forces in order to increase both intra-team and environmental situational awareness in military operations. It was stated that with CENGAVER, the soldier’s location will be learned in cases where the GPS does not work and information such as blood oxygen level, heart rhythm or body temperature will be obtained.

HAVELSAN’s work on the “digital unity” concept continues. The “digital soldier” CENGAVER, an important component of the digital unity, has also reached its final stage. Pointing out that the indispensable first part of the digital soldier and digital unit is the wired-wireless communication network, HAVELSAN Modeling and Sensor Technologies Team Leader Çağlar Akman stated that they also use wireless communication equipment for a mobile soldier.
Explaining that the radio network on the soldier provides both the communication of the soldiers with each other within the team and with the center, Akman said: “We use an ultra-wide band technology for which we have 8 patents, which answers the questions of where are you and how are you, and in environments where our soldiers are constantly in the outdoor environment or where GPS does not work, is blocked or jammed. In this way, we continuously provide the soldiers with both outdoor and previously we can track their locations in various interior environments that have not been entered. The tracking of these locations is not only aimed at sharing them with each other among the soldiers within the team. It also aims to track them from remote headquarters.
With CENGAVER, injury information or anomalies that a commander cannot obtain from a distance are revealed. Stating that they will also obtain information about the soldier’s health status, Akman said, “In addition to the question of where you are, we also use a wearable watch to ask how you are. “In this wearable watch, in addition to obtaining information such as blood oxygen level, heart rhythm or body temperature measured by smart watches, we provide a solution that can detect various anomalies, whether the soldier has fallen, whether he is resting or not, various activities from running to walking, fatigue analysis, stress level analysis, and even injuries due to various anomalies.”
With this system, situational awareness can be provided to both the soldier in the active operation in the field and the remote commander managing the operation. Stating that the system they developed with both a civilian and military use concept also provides solutions for firefighters, police and healthcare teams, Akman said that the hardware and software Akman stated that they have signed a solution that will meet military needs by strengthening it even more.
Pointing out that the prototype of the system is ready and has been tried in an operational environment, Akman said, “For productization, we need to sit down with end users, determine their needs very clearly and shape them according to these needs.”
