Dinosaur diet: What did they eat 200 million years ago?

Scientists have unearthed dinosaurs’ feeding habits by examining fossilized dinosaur feces and vomit samples. As a result of the examinations, the feeding habits of dinosaurs 200 million years ago were reached.

Scientists examined fossilized dinosaur feces and vomit samples found in Poland and reached new findings about the dominant presence of dinosaurs in the Earth’s food chain millions of years ago.
A joint study conducted by several different universities in Europe examined hundreds of fossilized dinosaur feces and vomit found in Poland to determine the foods dinosaurs consumed 200 million years ago. During the examination, organic materials such as fish scales, insects and bone fragments were encountered in the fossils.
In light of the findings, researchers concluded that the first dinosaurs had a wide range of foods, and reported that some dinosaurs quickly adapted to climate change and ate more plant species than their rivals.
One of the authors of the study, Uppsala University Organismal Biology Department Researcher Martin Qvarnström, noted that these lizards, which have lived on earth for millions of years, “ate whatever they found” in the early stages, and indicated that the dominance of these creatures in the food chain occurred over a long period of time. On the other hand, Qvarnström emphasized that the studies were conducted only on fossils found in Poland, and expressed that he wanted to see whether this situation developed in a similar way in other regions.
