Doctors did not care about this symptom, 31-year-old woman had cancer: This is how she learned that it had spread throughout her body

Holly Pardue, a 31-year-old mother of three, was diagnosed with cervical cancer. However, doctors initially made a mistake by describing her symptoms as ‘stress and hormones’. It later turned out that the young woman actually had cervical cancer. So, what was this symptom that even doctors ignored?

Holly Pardue, 31, began experiencing constant bleeding after giving birth to her third child in January 2023. Although she thought it was a postpartum condition, she went to her family doctor when the bleeding continued for six weeks. However, doctors attributed the condition to hormones and stress, and only prescribed her birth control pills and advised her to sleep better and go for walks.
Despite the cleanliness of the smear test she had in 2023, Pardue insisted on her symptoms and had another test. Finally, doctors thought she might have early-stage cervical cancer and performed additional tests. However, scans revealed that the disease had spread not only to the cervix but also to the lymph nodes around the pelvis and hips.
Pardue underwent intensive treatment. She underwent six weeks of chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy. Her treatment ended in October 2024 and she will learn whether the results are positive in March.
Pardue, who described the difficult process she went through, said, “I couldn’t believe that the doctors only explained it to me with stress and hormones. There had to be a reason for the bleeding and I had to follow it. Sometimes trusting the doctors is not enough, we have to trust ourselves too.”
He also urged anyone experiencing similar symptoms not to neglect screening tests. He emphasized that smear tests and HPV screenings are critical in detecting cervical cancer at an early stage.
Experts state that if cervical cancer is detected early, the survival rate for at least five years is 95%, but this rate drops to 15% when the disease progresses. Symptoms to watch out for are:
