Earthquake panic in northern Israel: Alarms go off by mistake

The Israeli army announced that the earthquake alarms went off by mistake during a controlled detonation of Hezbollah ammunition in Lebanon.

According to a statement made by the Israeli army spokesperson, “The explosion sounds heard in northern Israel were caused by the Israeli army activities in Lebanon and that there were no security incidents in the region.” Regarding the earthquake warning alarms going off in the Haifa area, the Jalil region and the occupied Golan Heights in northern Israel, army sources stated that the relationship between the attack alarms going off in the region and “Israeli army activities” is being examined. According to Israeli media reports, the Israel Geological Monitoring Authority announced that “the powerful explosion caused by the army’s controlled detonation of Hezbollah munitions in Lebanon caused the warning system to detect the explosion as an earthquake and triggered warning alarms.”
