Imran Khan, who was the prime minister of Pakistan until April 2022, was sent to prison on August 5, 2023, following an arrest warrant issued in a corruption case.
Having been sentenced to 3 years in prison for selling gifts worth over 190 million pounds that were state property, Khan’s sentence was postponed on August 29 and he was released on bail.
However, Khan, who was accused of “disclosing state secrets” in a different case, was extended upon the request of the prosecutor’s office, and Han was sentenced to 10 years in prison for “disclosing state secrets” in a hearing held in January.
On June 3, the Islamabad High Court had acquitted Khan in the case in which he was sentenced to prison for disclosing state secrets. Khan, who has been in prison for more than a year, has more than 150 criminal cases against him.
