Hamas, which postponed the prisoner swap due to Israel’s violations of the ceasefire, has traveled to Egypt to meet with mediators.
In a statement, Hamas announced that a Hamas delegation led by Chief Negotiator Khalil al-Hayya had reached the Egyptian capital Cairo to discuss the implementation of the agreement. It was stated that talks between the delegation and Egyptian mediators have begun. Hamas announced on Monday that it was suspending the release of prisoners held in Gaza due to Israel’s violations of a ceasefire that went into effect on January 19. The Palestinian group cited delays in the return of displaced people to different parts of Gaza and the denial of all aid agreed under the ceasefire.
