Hungarian leader Orban: “Our isolation has ended with Trump’s victory”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said, “With Trump’s victory, Hungary’s isolation has ended. We are no longer alone, the United States and its government are with us.” Emphasizing that Trump’s coming to power could bring peace and expand economic opportunities, Orban stated that in this way, Hungary’s interests would be aligned with those of the United States in many areas.

Speaking to a local television channel, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that many people were surprised when US President-elect Donald Trump won the elections, but that he had definitely predicted this.

Emphasizing that this is because people in the US and Europe are tired of war, immigration, rising crime rates, terrorism and gender issues, Orban said that for this reason, he logically concluded that Trump would return.

Emphasizing that Trump’s coming to power could bring peace and expand economic opportunities, Orban stated that in this way, Hungary’s interests would be aligned with those of the US in many areas.

EMPHASIZING A BROTHER-IN-ARMS

Emphasizing that Trump should not be seen as a “savior” but as a “comrade-in-arms” who supports similar goals, Orban said, “It is up to us, the Hungarian government, to fight for Hungary’s interests.”

Stating that it is no coincidence that Hungary feels isolated on many issues, but that they are no longer alone, Orban said, “With Trump’s victory, Hungary’s isolation has ended. We are no longer alone, the US and the US government are with us,” he said.

“I TALKED TO TRUMP ON THE PHONE”

Orban, who announced that he received an unexpected phone call from Trump while having tea with his wife one evening after the results of the US elections, expressed that Trump was willing to discuss future cooperation during their meeting.

Orban said that the direct communication between him and Trump was a harbinger of cooperation between the US and Hungary.

Orban stated that the European Union should change its pro-war stance and that a joint step should be taken towards peace, and said, “Europe cannot continue what it has been doing so far.”
