Instagram, the social media platform under the Meta umbrella, announced its new video creation application “Edits”. While the legal battles between TikTok, a social sharing application owned by Chinese parent company ByteDance, and CapCut, a mobile video editing application, continue in the US, Instagram President Adam Mosseri introduced the newly developed application in the video he posted on his social media account. “There’s a lot going on in the world right now, but no matter what, we feel it’s our duty to create the most engaging tools for all of you who make videos, not just for Instagram, but for all platforms,” Mosseri wrote in his post. He used the expressions. Emphasizing that Edits is not just a video editing tool, Mosseri stated that the application is intended to be a “complete suite of creative tools” that enable video creation via mobile phones. Mosseri noted that Edits, which can currently only be downloaded with a free pre-order, is planned to be released in February. 
The App Store lists the application’s launch date as March 13. TikTok was closed in the US yesterday in accordance with the law that prohibits it in the US if it is not sold to an American company. In addition to TikTok, CapCut was also blocked in the country. US President-elect Donald Trump made a statement regarding the TikTok ban on the social media platform Truth Social, saying, “On Monday, I will issue an executive order that will extend the time period for the provisions of the law to come into effect so that we can make an agreement to protect our national security,” he said. Trump also stated that with the executive order in question, companies that support TikTok to prevent it from being banned will not have legal liability, but he said he wanted half of TikTok to be owned by Americans. TikTok later resumed providing services in the country.
