Iran and Egypt call for immediate cessation of attacks in Gaza and Lebanon

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Erakçi and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdulati described the situation in the region resulting from Israel’s aggression as “dangerous” and called for an immediate cessation of attacks in Gaza and Lebanon.

According to a written statement by the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Erakçi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdulati discussed regional developments and bilateral relations over the phone. Describing the situation in the region as “dangerous” during the meeting, the two ministers stressed that the international community, especially Islamic countries, should make “urgent and effective” efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Lebanon and Gaza. The two ministers also expressed their satisfaction with the positive negotiations held between the two countries in recent months, especially the meeting between Iranian and Egyptian leaders at the BRICS Summit held in Russia last week, and agreed that these talks should continue in line with the interests of the two countries.
