Landslide in Brazil: 10 dead

A landslide caused by heavy rains in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais has killed 10 people, including a child. Authorities reported that 1 person is missing. State Governor Romeu Zema sent a message of “solidarity with the victims” in a statement he made on social media.

10 people, including an 8-year-old child, lost their lives in the landslide that occurred in the city of Ipatinga in the state of Minas Gerais.
Authorities reported that one person is missing.
Minas Gerais state Governor Romeu Zema sent a message of “solidarity with the victims” in a statement he made on social media.
Zema said, “I stand in solidarity with the families of the landslide victims in Ipatinga. “I have presented the public spaces of the Minas Government to the Mayor of Minas, Gustavo Nunes, to strengthen the rescue efforts and provide assistance to the people affected by the damage caused by the heavy rains,” he said.
Last year, record-breaking rainfall in the Latin American country of Brazil caused floods that killed more than 180 people in the south of the country.
