At least 14 people have lost their lives when a bus carrying dozens of wedding guests crashed into a river in northern Pakistan. Search and rescue efforts are continuing for the 10 people missing from the vehicle, which carried a total of 25 people.
A bus returning from a wedding in Pakistan was involved in a terrible accident. Of the 25 people on the bus that crashed into a river in the north of the country, 14 lost their lives, while 10 are reported missing. Only the bride has been pulled out of the bus alive so far. “The bride is out of danger and is receiving treatment at a hospital in Gilgit,” Pakistani authorities said. The driver was found to be speeding when the accident occurred. The groom’s family had travelled 500 kilometres (300 miles) for the wedding and were returning home when the accident occurred. High-fatality traffic accidents are common in Pakistan, where security measures are lax, driver training is poor and transport infrastructure is often outdated.
