French tire manufacturer Michelin announced that it will close two of its factories in France by the beginning of 2026 at the latest.
Tire manufacturer Michelin announced that production at its Cholet and Vannes factories, which have been facing serious economic difficulties for several years, will be stopped by the beginning of 2026 at the latest. The decline in Europe’s competitiveness and the structural transformation of the car and truck tire markets were cited as the reasons for the closure decision. The French tire manufacturer employs 1,254 people in the factories in question. On the other hand, French retailer Auchan Retail International SA also announced that it plans to eliminate 2,389 positions in various departments as part of its restructuring plan.
