Migrants at Guantanamo Bay: ‘The worst of the worst will be held here’

The US administration sent 10 irregular immigrants who “committed crimes” to the center at the naval base in Guantanamo Bay. US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said, “President Donald Trump spoke very clearly. Guantanamo Bay will house the worst of the worst.” he spoke.

US President Donald Trump continues his large-scale “deportation operation” against irregular immigrants in the country. In a statement made by the US Department of Homeland Security, it was announced that 10 members of the Venezuelan “Tren de Aragua” gang were sent to Guantanamo Bay in Cuba for deportation.
It was stated that the C-17 military plane that took off from El Paso, Texas with “criminal immigrants” arrived at Guantanamo Bay.
It was learned that the immigrants will not be placed in the same place as the current detainees at Guantanamo Bay, known as the US’s “torture base.”

On January 29, US President Donald Trump ordered the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security to “expand the Immigration Operations Center at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base to full capacity” in order to accommodate “criminal immigrants” living in the US and without legal status. Trump had stated that they would work to prepare the base to house 30,000 immigrants waiting to be sent back to their countries.
The US is using the naval base in Cuba to hold those responsible for the September 11, 2001 attacks.

The naval base has an immigration facility separate from the maximum security prison where foreign terrorism suspects are held.
