It has been reported that Interpol is seeking two Russian citizens of Chechen origin in connection with the assassination attempt on Komil Allamjonov, one of the figures close to the President of Uzbekistan.
The assassination attempt on Komil Allamjonov, the former head of the Presidential Information Policy Department and former press secretary of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has shaken the agenda in Uzbekistan.
On October 26, at around 01:40 local time, Allamjonov was returning home from Kibrai in the capital Tashkent when two people on a motorbike fired several shots at the car he was in. Allamjonov and his driver escaped unharmed.
Authorities have launched a search for Chechen-born Russian citizens Bislan Rasaev, 36, and Shamil Temrihanov, 31, who are linked to the assassination. The assassination team was allegedly offered $1.5 million.
It was reported that the two suspects were added to the Interpol wanted list at the government’s request. According to the allegations, Rasaev entered the country illegally, while Temrikhanov crossed through the “Dustlik” Gate on the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan border. The suspects were charged with border violation, smuggling, weapons possession, and complicity. It was learned that another target of the suspects was the head of the National Advanced Projects Agency, Dmitry Li.
