National combat aircraft KAAN will take off again

Preparations are continuing for the national combat aircraft KAAN, which is the domestically produced 5th generation fighter jet project of the Turkish defense industry, to make its third flight by the end of this year.

TUSAŞ General Manager Mehmet Demiroğlu stated that preparations for the third flight of KAAN are continuing and said, “It may be a little difficult to give a date right now, but we are planning to fly this year.” Demiroğlu stated that the prototypes P1 and P2, which will start tests for the delivery of KAAN in 2028, will take the stage towards the end of 2025 and that they will begin very intensive tests with them. “WE DO NOT HAVE ANY DELAYS AT THE MOMENT” Demiroğlu, referring to the fact that the tests of the P4 and P5 prototypes will be carried out in 2026, said, “We need to do all the tests quickly with these 4-5 prototypes because the time is very short and we need to do a lot of tests. These are necessary in order to start the delivery in 2028.” Demiroğlu, who said, “Hopefully, we will all see our KAANs in the sky by the end of 2025,” expressed that the work continues intensively. Demiroğlu stated that there were no delays in their programs and noted the following: “Delays are natural in development programs, they can happen. One day, 2 days, 3 days, 1 week, 2 months, these are natural, this is not considered a delay. In other words, you have deviated a little from your plan. Our current plan is 2028 delivery. We are currently working on whatever is necessary regarding this within that plan. We will share it even if the opposite happens, but there is no change in our plan at the moment.”
