“Defense industry attachés” will work within Turkish embassies. The attachés will conduct diplomatic relations between Turkish defense industry companies and foreign users. Noting that approval had been received from 22 countries, Head of the Presidency’s Defense Industries Department Haluk Görgün said, “Our first assignment was to our friendly and brotherly country Azerbaijan.”
Head of the Presidency’s Defense Industries Department Haluk Görgün made statements to members of the press in Antalya regarding developments in the defense industry. In his assessment to members of the press, Görgün reported that the defense industry was the area where the most development and progress was achieved in the country, with a 29 percent growth last year compared to the previous year. “DEFENSE ATTACHES ON EVERY CONTINENT” Stating that attaches will be assigned to the defense industry sector, Görgün made statements regarding this work. Noting that approvals had been received from 22 countries for defense attaché activities, Görgün said, “Our first assignment was our friendly and brotherly country Azerbaijan. We currently have a defense industry consultant in Azerbaijan. We have a consultant in Pakistan. We will put out announcements in countries that we deem strategic. We will complete their processes and assign them.” Stating that the attaches will serve as a bridge between Turkish defense industry companies and users in foreign countries, Görgün said, “There are attaches on every continent. They will be in countries we export to and countries with high export potential.” he spoke.
“WE SIGNED A 20 BILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT IN 2 YEARS” Görgün explained that they attach great importance to international defense industry collaborations, agreements and fairs and that they made plans accordingly. Pointing out that they have achieved important results from their work, Görgün continued his words as follows: “We signed a 20 billion dollar contract in 2 years, this is a big number. We started 2025 very fast. We signed new contracts worth over 1 billion dollars in the first month, it looks like our monthly average will be around this.” THE MOST DELIVERED TO THE US AND NATO Görgün stated that Turkey signed the most contracts with the US and NATO in the defense industry last year, and that the region with the most deliveries was the US and NATO with 3.7 billion dollars. Drawing attention to the developing business, collaborations and opportunities with different regions in the defense industry, Görgün said, “We care about each region. We have packages with different alternative solutions for each region. With this wide range of products we have developed, we can offer different products in specific areas to the countries we deal with. We also see that Turkey’s share in defense industry exports is increasing every year in the world, we are currently the 11th exporting country. We are working diligently in all sectors to enter the top 10.”
