Elon Musk’s space company SpaceX has partnered with California-based startup Vast to organize private flights to the International Space Station (ISS).
SpaceX announced that it has partnered with California-based startup Vast to organize private flights to the International Space Station (ISS).
These expeditions, which still require NASA approval, mark a significant milestone for Vast, which aims to launch its first commercial space station next year.
Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX’s deputy CEO, expressed excitement about the partnership, saying it expands space travel opportunities.
HAVEN-2 TO REPLACE SPACE STATION
The ISS will be decommissioned by SpaceX in 2030, and companies including Vast, Axiom Space, Blue Origin and Voyager Space are competing to build private space stations.
Vast, founded in 2021, plans to launch Haven-1, a compact space station, in 2025, followed by Haven-2, a replacement for the ISS.
The company’s long-term goal is to develop artificial gravity habitats to enable sustainable human life in space.
