Nvidia and Google Collaborate on Quantum Computing

US chip company Nvidia announced that it will work with Google Quantum AI to accelerate the design of next-generation quantum computing devices.

In the statement made by Nvidia, it was stated that Google Quantum AI will use NVIDIA’s Eos supercomputer to simulate the physics of quantum processors, and that this will help overcome the current limitations of quantum computing hardware. The statement pointed out that quantum computers face a challenge called “noise,” which limits the number of operations they can perform before errors start to occur, and that this prevents the computers from working effectively for longer tasks. It was emphasized in the statement that Google Quantum AI will use NVIDIA’s technology to run simulations that help understand and reduce noise, and that these simulations are expensive, but Google can do this on the NVIDIA Eos supercomputer using the CUDA-Q platform at a fraction of the cost. The statement reported that thanks to Google’s CUDA-Q platform and NVIDIA’s graphics processing units, noisy simulations that would take a week can be run in minutes. It was noted in the statement that the software used for these simulations will be made available to other engineers through the CUDA-Q platform, and that the collaboration aims to make quantum computers more practical for solving real-world problems in the future.
