Occupation forces in Syria: Israel approaches 20 kilometers to Damascus

Israel is expanding the area it occupies in Syrian territory following the overthrow of the 61-year-old Baath regime. The Israeli army has advanced to the Beddua region, located approximately 20 kilometers from the Mezze Military Airport in the capital Damascus.

Israel’s occupation of Syrian territory is expanding.
The Israeli army, which has advanced its occupation to the Beddua region, located northeast of the Hermon Mountains near the Mezze Military Airport on the outskirts of Damascus, has reached within about 20 kilometers of the capital.
The Israeli army, which continues its occupation in the south of the country, entered the Deriyat region west of the towns of al-Malika and al-Rafeed in the countryside of Quneitra province with a team of about 30 soldiers, three bulldozers and three tanks. Army forces, who are digging and opening a dirt road from the Israeli border to the Deriyat region, have destroyed agricultural lands in the region with bulldozers, rendering them unusable.
Abdu el-Karyan, a resident of the town of al-Malika who reacted to the Israeli occupation of Syrian territory, said that Israel occupied Syrian lands under the pretext of “security and stability”.

Karyan said, “They established fortification points in Sheikh Mountain and Teloul el-Hamer. The occupation forces are entering the villages, the town of Malika and the Dereyya Hill, and are flattening the lands in these areas.” Karyan, who drew attention to the fact that Israeli soldiers caused destruction in the agricultural lands in the regions they entered with bulldozers, added, “Quneitra is currently completely under Israeli occupation.” Karyan called on the international community and the administration led by Ahmed Shara to stop Israel’s occupation of Syrian territory.

Abu Ahmed, a resident of the region, also stated that Israel continues to oppress the people in the areas it occupied in the Quneitra countryside and the Daraa province.
Ahmed said, “We, as the villagers, are telling them, ‘You will lose and you will never dare to set foot on these lands again.'”
Last week, Israel damaged civilian settlements in the towns of al-Asha, al-Hiran, Abu Gara and Mazraat al-Hiran in Quneitra province. Israeli tanks damaged agricultural lands, electricity poles and roads in the four towns, and knocked down trees on the side of the road.
The Israeli army also occupied the villages of Cemle and Maaraba in the Yarmouk basin of the southern city of Daraa.
