A statement was made by Moscow regarding deposed Syrian leader Bashar Assad, who has sought refuge in Russia. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Putin is not currently scheduled to meet with Bashar Assad. Peskov refrained from commenting on when Assad went to Russia.

Moscow made important statements regarding the situation in Syria.
Speaking at a press conference, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, “It’s too early to say anything,” when asked about the Russian military presence remaining at bases in Syria.
Stating that everything was being done to contact people who could be responsible for security at Russian bases in Syria, Peskov said, “There will be a difficult period due to instability in Syria and dialogue with all regional powers must continue.”
Peskov, who stated that Putin is not currently scheduled to meet with Bashar Assad, avoided commenting on when Assad went to Russia. He added that Assad’s refuge in Russia was Putin’s decision.
Regarding the Russian military presence remaining in bases in Syria, Peskov said, “This is an issue that will be discussed with the people who will be in power. The army is taking precautions,” he said.
The Kremlin spokesman also said that there is currently a high potential for conflict in the world from Ukraine to the “middle east in flames.” Peskov said that he has had no contact with the new US president Donald Trump so far.
