Return to the Moon after 50 years: NASA determined 9 regions!

NASA has determined 9 regions where astronauts will land on the Moon after 50 years as part of the Artemis III mission. The mission will include non-white and female astronauts for the first time.

NASA’s preparations for returning to the Moon have accelerated.
The areas where the Artemis III mission will land on the Moon have been determined by the space agency.
With this mission, astronauts will step on the Moon’s surface again after a 50-year hiatus.
This mission, which will include the first black and female astronauts, will be a significant milestone in space exploration.
“Artemis will take humanity back to the Moon and see unexplored regions,” said Lakiesha Hawkins, deputy director of the Moon to Mars Program. NASA determined the planned landing areas as close to the Moon’s south pole. As a result of examinations conducted using the spacecraft Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter and various research data, Slater Plain, Nobile Rim 1 and 2, Mons Mouton, de Gerlache Rim 2, Mons Mouton Plateau, Malapert Massif, Haworth and hill regions near Cabeus B were selected.
The scientific values of the selected regions were also analyzed. Each region has the potential to shed new light on the history of the Solar System and rocky planets. The Moon’s south pole contains permanently shadowed areas previously unexplored by astronauts, where resources such as water could be stored.
“The Moon’s south pole is a completely different environment than where we landed during the Apollo missions,” said Sarah Noble, lunar science officer for NASA’s Artemis mission. This region could provide access to the Moon’s oldest terrain, as well as cold, shadowy areas that could contain water and other compounds.
NASA will further study these regions, which will provide flexibility in the timing of the Artemis III mission, determining elements such as the mission’s spacecraft path, orbital paths and surface conditions. The agency will continue to search for suitable areas for additional missions such as Artemis IV and Artemis V in the future.
NASA introduced the suits designed to be worn by astronauts in the third leg of the Artemis Program in recent weeks.
The clothes for the astronauts were designed by luxury clothing brand Prada.
EIGHT-HOUR SPACE WALK WILL BE POSSIBLE
It was noted that the suits will be durable for at least two hours in the coldest environment in shaded areas, and it was stated that astronauts will be able to spacewalk for approximately eight hours.
